Girona’s medieval charm makes it a perfect city to explore on foot. A walk along the Onyar River offers beautiful views of the city’s famous colorful houses, their facades reflecting in the water. Crossing the Eiffel Bridge, designed by Gustave Eiffel before he built his famous tower, provides a unique perspective of the old town.
The highlight is the Girona Cathedral, an imposing structure with the widest Gothic nave in the world, reached by an impressive staircase. Walking along the Passeig de la Muralla, the city’s old defensive walls, offers panoramic views over Girona’s rooftops and surrounding countryside.
Another hidden gem is the Jewish Quarter (Call Jueu), one of the best-preserved in Europe, with narrow, winding streets full of history. Even in just an afternoon, Girona’s mix of medieval architecture, riverfront scenery, and historic charm leaves a lasting impression.
