A brief stop at Himeji Castle, even during renovations, offers a chance to see Japan’s most iconic and best-preserved feudal castle. Known as the “White Heron Castle” for its elegant, white appearance, the structure stands as a prime example of traditional Japanese castle architecture.

Although scaffolding covered much of the exterior during the visit, the impressive scale and distinctive design of the castle were still apparent. Perched atop a hill, it remains a symbol of resilience, having survived wars, earthquakes, and centuries of change.

Even a short visit leaves a sense of the historical importance and beauty that make Himeji Castle a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-see for any future return trip when fully visible.
